Wondering if anyone out on the sippi’ has got into a Musky? I’m going to be targeting ALOT more rivers this year and wanted to know if anybody will give up a few areas to try?

The guys on the St. Croix thread are gonna see this as well.

    Thanks!

Hey Steve Predator 2 and I were fishing at Lacopolus last summer and he caught a Muskie. We were fishing walleye’s.. I think it was a fluke but you’ll have to ask Rob it was his rod that got it.. He might have been fishin for em I think it was about 6 or 7 lbs..I got a picture some where.. But that was my only Muskie I have ever caught on the Mississippi…All my Muskie’s have come on Northern lakes.

I thought that In Fisherman did some shows catching HUGE muskies on the Upper Miss around St Cloud. I could be wrong-but maybe some others remember it. The one show in particular was the were using large plastics in the fall.

    Steve,
My son caught some big ‘skies not far from where we live in Zumbrota. And you don’t even need a boat!

I remember that show – they were fishing log jams on the inside edges of river bends. They pulled out some real peaches – I think it was during the fall.

I’m sworn to secrecy as to it’s exact location,
(and threatened with a slow and painful death)
so let’s just say it’s a tributary of the Miss.
You’ve got quite a memory! It’s been months since
    I mentioned that spot.

Here’s the link to a post talking about the largest muskie I’ve seen substantiated on the Mississippi River…. south of the Twin Cities anyway.

Personally I’ve seen a couple caught, one of which was about 17 – 18 lbs. On Lake Pepin a couple springs back. The lucky angler caught it fishing for pike. With all the mongo shad we have, a large muskie could get real fat and happy out there!

    Steve,

Little Falls to to Brainerd has some excellent musky fishing on the Miss. A couple of my brothers are avid musky anglers and they always see fish up here (oops, I may have just lost my spot in the family tree?). Alot of the In-Fisherman video publications have been taped on these sections. The stickiest, muggiest days of August and September have proven well to them up here for some nice skies. I know a couple personal friends that frequent these sections as well. Last November put 2 fish over 50″ for a couple of them with a couple more taping in the mid to high 40’s.

You will most likely find me up there fishing smallies in that time frame as well.

    Good Luck
