A 54 year old fisherman from Fountain City is believed to have fallen from his boat and officials are still searching. I know this isnt the kind of news everyone wants to here but I just thought Id warn everyone especially those on pool 5A where the man was fishing near Bass Camp. Thoughts and prayers to the family and loved ones from FTR.

I just saw it on the news too, Hougie. It gave me a chill when I thought about how many times I’m out there alone without my life vest on and not using my kill switch lanyard. It’s an extremely unfortunate reminder to us all to be careful out there.

Definitely, and a mishap will happen quicker than you think.

I can’t say it enough, when you are runnen where that life vest and kill switch!!! I have been as guilty as anyone out there of making a short run and not puting on a life vest (thats all it takes to hit somthing and be thrown from the boat)

When winter fishing were one all the time 20 seconds in that water with out a vest and it’s game over! I don’t know what happend to the man at bass camp but I do know that 2 realy good & healthy friends of mine never got a chance to get in the boat or on shore when they went over board in 50 degree water. They were both wering winter clothing and never had a chance in that cold water. Their vests were neatly tucked away under the deck of the boat. A wittness seen the accident from shore and was out to the boat with in minutes (almost immediatly) and it was too late. The accident was only about 100yrds from shore. Both of these guys were in better shape than me! Both left behind young children and wives, not to mention many friends and other family members.

They are deeply missed to this day. The impact will last forever! I will never fish with em again.

Just remember it’s not only you that you are protecting when you put on that vest.

    God Bless

Predator, sorry to hear of your loss.

You are absolutely right with your last statement. We all should be aware that safety on the river not only protects us, it protects our families and friends.

Its always a tragedy when something like this happens… no matter who or when…… Im as guilty as most of us for not wearing a lifejacket…… my main salvation is my boat is not too fast….. might save me… might not….. your fear of the water declines the longer you spend on it…. until something like this wakes you up and reminds you that there is very real danger and you need to be wary…..

my condolences to any and all who have experienced a loss from such things….
