Someone broke a path out to the channel. The ramp has a small shelf of ice at the waters edge but has been sanded. Expect to hit loose ice but it is usable.

Thanks Dino. Hopefully the fish will cooperate. Please post a report and let us know how you do on Friday. I will either be shopping for a new reel and some tackle this weekend or getting on the water.

Good Luck boys! Clear that ice out. RAH RAH RAH!!

Mille Lacs has been keeping me too busy lately to get back on the river. But with the temps staying where they are. I may have to take a day to hit the river. Let us all know how you guys do today!!

    Good Luck

    Mike,

I was out today. The ramp and river were in great shape. No ice on the water like last weekend. Conditions can change fast this time of year, but as of today everything looks good.

We put in at 10:00 and fished till 4:00. Best bite is still going in the airport area. Jig/minnow and jig/plastics catching equal number of fish for us.

Fun to start the year out in a boat catching a walleye as the first fish of the year!

Only a couple boats out today….look for a report from DeeZee as we saw his truck in the lot on the way out.

John J, glad to hear the airport bite is doing well. How was the size of the fish?

The size and numbers were down a bit for us today. Our best fish were a couple 19 inch saugers we caught trolling 3-way/cranks. The fish are there, just not real active today. Several of our jig fish were foul hooked in the rear end!! Not real interested in biting.

Pretty slow for me last night with 4 fish to show for my efforts.
Still pitching plastics to the wingdams. All the fished taped at 20-21″. It got pretty cold and lonely out there last night about 8:00pm and I decided to call it a night.

I may have to break down and fish the airport area this weekend! Glad to see some fish are still going up there. Maybe I can talk Mr. Zimmerman in joining me this weekend for a little walleye action!

What do ya say there Ron?

Steve, I won’t be on the river until Monday due to a quick trip to Iowa to give Teal (6 mo. old lab) another lesson on the Roosters. Good luck this weekend and let me know if you want to hit the river on Monday.
