Anyone heard anything good or bad about ZERCOM flasher units? I really don;t wanna spend 500 bucks on a Vexlar.

Believe it or not Fish, I have some 2 Zercom Flasher’s on my Ranger and they work very well.

From what I’ve heard, Zercom was responsible for a pretty big miscue in the ice fishing world with there colorpoint unit.

I’ve never had one, but I’ve heard plenty of bad things about them. I’m pretty sure Marcum bought out Zercom? Like I said, all of this is second hand baitshop talk, so take it for what its worth.

If you want a Vexilar for on the river, you can stay well under 500 bucks with the FL-8 and be happy. Mine tells and shows me everthing I need to see. It works great on the ice and for the boat they even have a through hull transducer for aluminum
    Again, personal preference
Thats why you can look through pages of different flashers/locators

I spent 200 bucks on my FL-8. I bought it reconditioned from the vexilar warehouse in bloomington, and never had a problem with it

Only new ones I could find were well over 200. I am cruising e-bay and can’t find much under 300 there either.

I have a Zercom on the Skeeter that I purchased this spring and it is OK for reading depth but that is it. I used several Vexilar units and was happy until I used a Marcum a few years ago. Marcum has by far the best unit available and does not gouge you for every penny. The target seperation is better than any of the other units. I run a Marcum LX-1 on the front of my boat and I use it in the winter as well. It is the same unit as the more expensive LX-3 or LX-5 without the zoom feature which I never use anyway. Fish-Farm&Fleet had the FL-8 on sale for $239 a week or so ago. That is the cheapest I have ever seen for a new flasher.

I have a new MarCum LX-1 Performance Pack that I would sell for $230 plus shipping. I use the same unit on my Ranger in the summer. You just need to buy the summer transducer of your choice at that time.
