Going fishing on Pool 9 on Friday, any help out there? Searching for some Walleyes, generally fish around Lansing or blackhawk park area. Any help would be great, haven’t been to the river yet this fall (high water cancelled acouple trips). email any locations or baits I should try to [email protected] Thanks, John

I’ll be there too. I’d like to get some info also. I’ve heard the weeds were a problem yet last weekend. Some people have been catching a few saugers, but not much for walleyes. Hopefully we can get an update.
Sorry I’m not too much help.

I was there for a couple weeks. Came home last Wednesday and the weeds were still terrible. I did manage 3 walleye on Tuesday morning pitching H20 jigs and Kahlins. Biggest was 23 inches which got CPR’d. I haven’t been able to cast crankbaits or troll the last 2 months. I sure hope it’s better tomorrow. I’m heading to Blackhawk early in the morning for the day. I’ll try to post results tomorrow evening.

We were down below the dam last sunday and it was really slow for us. There were guys catching them up on the south end of the float though
they were using 3 ways…Lots of small saugers I saw them put a lot of little 10 inch fish on their stringer
Some of the guys that walked right up to the dam and fished over that fence were catching some decent 17-18 inch eater eyes…every 15 snags or so that is..Personally, we only managed 1 eater sauger that ended up going back because we never caught another fish all day….The only places the fish seemed to be, u couldnt get close enough because we needed to respect the people fishing on the float. Minnows were the only bet for most people it sounded like…Oh yeah, gras was terrible. Made for a miserable time. Dont leave your line down too long, you will feel it start to bog down with grass!

I made it up for the day Thursday. The West side of the channel was a total waste because of grass. We fished some Wisconsin side wingdams down toward DeSoto Bay and got 1 20 inch walleye on a crankbait. The floating grass wasn’t bad but the rocks on the dams are completely coated with a layer of what has been floating down. We went into DeSoto Bay and crankbaited the railroad side rocks with lots of bass to 4 lbs. and one more walleye at 16 inches. Good fishing but not for the species we were after. Hope you have some luck and keep us posted on your success.

Ended up not going up due to the “grass” issue. Hopefully in the next week or so, the water will clear up and the fishing will improve.

Started out below #9 yesterday, the water looked a lot like chocalate milk after the windstorm on sunday. We headed up to Desoto to see if it was any better, and it was a little, but we fished for half an hour with no luck so we pulled the plug and headed south looking for cleaner water. We ended up at guttenberg and got a 2 man limit of saugers and a 2 bonus walleyes. Hopefully the water cleans up soon.
