Ussually at alma the river will open up if u get 3-4 days of 40 degree weather,,, the problem is that the landing freezes up and it takes alot of warm weather to make that clear if ice,, the local people ussually push there flats across the ice and then go out.. If u dont have a flat bottom u would have to go to the down by bufflo city,,, theres a flowing channel down there that keeps the ice clear… that run is alot longer to the dam

most people just go down to the buffalo city landing, if you have a faster boat that is your best bet, pushing your boat across the ice can be dangerous so if you do that watch out

I usually hit Buffalo City along the winter months cause you can go out whenever you want.! The bite can be really good its usually a hit an miss situation. It mostly depends on how the winter kill of shad was.. Mr. Willow Cat is right the run is pretty long if you have a smaller motor…but its pretty fast if u have a fast boat!! Remember to watch for icebergs we dont want anyone ending up like the titantic

How far down from the dam would you say it is to Buffalo City? Is the ramp on the main channel? Thanks, Bill

    Hey Bill,
Buffalo City is about 3 1/2-4miles on the water…and about 4-5miles by car..The Belvieder Landing is right off the main channel ..around 100-200yards….Hope this Helps
