I returned home Sunday afternoon from a week spent up camping and fishing at Alma, Wisconsin. All in all it was a pretty good week with quite a variety of fish species making it to the boat. We fished mainly lower pool 4 but also spent a day on pool 5 and one on pool 5A for a little bass action. It was a crankbait bite on lower pool 4 with several nice walleye, northerns and bass caught casting cranks on wingdams and rock piles. One of the guys in our group was fishing live bait for walleye but it seemed casting cranks was producing the best results. We also ran into several schools of feeding stripers which gave us some fast and furious action. The weather cooperated for the most part with only a couple rainstorms to deal with. Everyone had a great time and we are looking forward to going up again next September.

P.S. – If anyone catches a smallmouth around 3 or 4 Lbs with has a blue jointed Shad Rap hanging out of the corner of it’s mouth please send me the crankbait. Crankbait was last seen with the fish Saturday around noon on the end of the first wingdam coming down river out of Lake Pepin at Reeds Landing. Thank you.

You can always camp out in Jarrad’s(fireflick) front yard. I don’t think his wife would mind.

We always camp at Reich’s Lake campground which is a City of Alma campground about 2 miles north of Alma. It is right where the Buffalo River (Marsh) empties into the Miss.
$12.00 a night which includes electricity. The city sunk a few dollars into the campground this year and really made it nice. They also have hot showers. It is located right along side of Hwy 35 so if vehicle noise bothers you you had best look elsewhere. Great bluegill, bass and northern fishing right at the campground in the Buffalo River Marsh so it you can’t catch them on the river you can always get them at the campsite.
