    What next… ?
Grab your next issue of In-Fisherman to see it now.
Coolest new fishing thing to come in many years…. 2

    LIVE… glow-in-the-dark waxworms !!

Live bait… that glow in six colors !!
    Jig-a-Whopper has introduced a live wax-worm that GLOWS….
and glows bright in chartreuse, orange, pink, blue, red, and white. They are going to be incredible additions to my ice fishing arsenal .

They are not available right now… but will begin shipping on Nov. 1st 2002. I intend on selling these “crawling little neon EAT-ME screaming cridders” in the EFN Outlet Store.
They are packaged in an eight ounce cup with 40 to 45 count of one color for $4.95 a cup. I am going to offer a “Waxie-Glow Kit” with all six colors.

Just a word about keeping this kind of live bait “lively”… you should keep them in your ice box… and not the freezer. Do not leave them in your truck out over night in the freezing cold…. they are better off in your icebox. They need to be kept in a cool dark place to have a long shelf life.
I should have a photo for you to see here on this post by next week.
Glow-in-the-dark wax worms…. now what will be next?

I can just see it now !
Honey… I spilt my maggots… can you turn off the light… so I can find them?
    FUN.

This reminds me-anyone try green nightcrawlers? Any difference? The only times I have tried them, I did not see them produce more bites than regular crawlers.

    Hawger,

I could see this new “glow waxie” being a huge success for those who seek panfish on open and hard water applications.

    Look out Upper Red Lake…….

DaveB, I have not found the green crawlers to be any more productive than the original colored via on light lindys, or on a spinner/crawlers combo. This has been a handful of my fellow anglers and my observations. We have played with these greenies the last several years and compared notes and they said the same thing that maybe these are catching more anglers than fish? Some may disagree, but this was our conclusions so far…

Hawger, when do you think you’ll have them in the store? Ice will be here before you know it.
Also, I know this is another subject, but did you ever get to talk to your Salmo rep about replacement of their baits that won’t run true?
    thanks

Yes Herb, I did talk to him (Gary Snyder / Salmo)… he said if the lure was “fairly new” looking (did not look like it had been beat to schmidt on the rocks, crushed, or broken in half, etc…)and just could not be tuned… that Salmo (he as the U.S.A. distributor) would replace it. And ship you the replacement free.

Not a problem he said… as he has only had one to exchange the past three years… he told me, that he remembers the model and color… a # 7Floating Minnow in the Dace color… !

So, I will tell you this… they do stand behind these lures. I know from experience that they have a quality product.

Waxie-Glows… you can order now… but will be shipped on Nov.1st, 2002.

James will put them into the B-Fish-N Tackle department of the EFN Outlet when he returns from Mille Lacs, next week. To order that way using your credit card, you’ll have to wait till he gets that work done.

Otherwise… if you do not want to wait… or if you want to be first in line… send me a check for $4.95 per container (one color per container) MN. residents add .065 Sales tax. Shipping is $4.00 if you get one or up to six containers. Make sure you tell me what colors you want and your shipping address & phone number. I would call you if there is any delay.

Dave – We gave the nitro crawlers a shot this year and they worked good – but I don’t know if they were any better. Have to use them a little more extensively this next year. They did outproduce regular crawlers in the Boundary Waters on our spring trip but that is the only occasion that I can think of.—Pax

    cool…. I am a believer in
    “glow”…. even in the daytime!
When one dives / scuba, and you go deep… colors loose their hue / vaue… and can not be seen as in “color” anymore…. Also in stained water / dirty water when light is restricted… this happens in even shallower depths… but “Glow” and the “New Glow Colors” generate their own light source and can be seen … in color… at any depth and without any light penetration, at all.
I have had the Glow Willospoons out perform all my colors and prism tape models… even in the mid-day bite, and in under in twenty feet of water. And… I have fished the glow KnuckleBall Jigs (in glow colors) in mid-day with more success than even my favorite gold jig heads. So…. realy… I am into glow.
    Now… glowing wax worms….
I am just going to have to give them a try! And they may just be the ticket…. we’ll see!
I can not wait to give ’em a try.

    Hawger,

I know this is an old post but how did the Glow live bait work out for you? Are they still for sale? Never seen them any where up N but maybe I am not looking in the right places.

    Thanks!

Don’t get too excited. This was a passing fad and sort of fell on its nose I think. There were some glow-in-the-dark waxies available here in Rochester maybe 5 years back but they didn’t do much more than smell bad.
