Apparently some folks have been offended by the use of the regular regular part of some of my posts. Just so you know some of the background. I had a wall come back down on me

back on 8/18/98 and it did a number on my back, spine, and nearly every joint in my body. As the years go on the inflamation and overall pain makes it harder and harder to make it through a full day of fishing. Many of my yearly guide customers already know that unless something changes, I probably only have a year or two left of this almost daily guiding, and more than likely not any guiding at all. So I’m kinda proud of the few honors I have recieved, FTR Field staff being one of them, kind of grabbing for all the gusto I can while I can.

Well anyway when the new agreement came down for staff to sign and I couldn’t, I was pretty disheartened. My youngest son sensing my discomfort went fishing for the first time in a long time the day after the contract came out. ,(he really still is worried when in a boat on the Mississippi). Not realizing he reads my posts on the FTR site he suprised me in the middle of everything by saying “Don’t worry dad you can still be a “regular regular”on Fish The River”. Needless to say all 210 lbs of me went to jelly and I had a little heavy perspiration in the corner of my eyes. He understood that it was a thrill for a REGULAR guy like his dad to be able to be a Field Staff Member on a regional site that actually was made up of neighbors.

So now you know the regular regular is a badge of honor not a cheap cut like I have been told some folks thought. He has seen it in posts enough now to realize it meant a lot to me, so I will skip it.

Mountain Man… nice of ya to explain… I never thought a thing about it myself…… and I dont think we have any ego freaks on staff…. or in our readership.. EFN is not about that… its the opposite of that in fact….. its about an extended fishing family that lets each other in on whats up….. ya cant beat that… so if anyone behaves in a way not conducive to “family”.. then shame on them!…..
and despite the fact that you dont know that you cant find WALLeyes, under a WALL….. your a great guy!! and Ive always appreciated your input!!!.. and sounds like you have a great family too…… sorry to hear that you fought the WALL and the WALL won….

Like RiverEyes said no explanation needed.
And even though I don’t THINK I’m an ego freak, sometimes I think my freaking ego needs some adjustment.
    Go with pride Lawrence.

Sure River Eyes now you tell me. Oh well I probably wouldn’t have listened anyway, I’m always looking for them
around a wall how would I know they wouldn’t be under the wall. There is a great part to the story though. The day before it fell my baby daughter was next to me in the stroller in front of the wall, but not thank God , not when it came down. And no I didn’t get a bite there all day. Lawrence

Were family !! We all have different personalities and commentments, “But were still family”! To share our knowledge is very important ! Sorry to hear about the wall hurting you, something like that is sure to change the way we view the future ! Good Luck !!

Mountain Man……………you’ve been a great asset to the site………end of story. No matter the circumstances, don’t let anyone get under your craw…………..be you and you’ll soon know who is or isn’t with you………….and then that who is, is all that matters. I’ve seen no foul and you shouldn’t have to feel guilty or any need of explaination. You’ve obviously done well by your son for him to express such love with wise words……….and again………….does anything else matter beyond that? Tomorrow’s a new day and you are among friends…………some of us just never told you so.

    Have a great day MM!

Hey Bud, You will always be a GREAT guy on the river, land, and most of all as a valueable friend to us. I know being crippled up isn’t fun, but if I can keep going then you better keep going too. Doesn’t have to be everyday but we will always have to fish, its part of us. And we have alot of friends and future friends to pass along any info and fishing experiences we can. Keep Brian fishing, it keeps the fishing alive in you too. We may be getting older but there are ways to do things alittle different that will keep us on the water. Take care and keep sharing. Bill and Nate

    Hey Mountain Man,
Just wanted to put my 2 cents worth in and say that even though I have only been a member for a couple of months I have always made sure to read your posts. I have always fished the same stretch of river that you do and love reading about stuff that I can recognize. I have been to your web site several times and have learned a great deal from the information that is there. I have never done much trolling and thanks to your information on three way cranks I have caught and released several large eyes this summer. Though we have never met, you can consider me another friend. As for the comments about kids I couldnt agree more, my 2 boys are grown up and both live for fishing and hunting, and this year when my daughter left for college it was like I had lost my favorite fishing partner! That girl is uncanny on the eyes, she definately has touch!
As usual heres wishing you all good fishing!!!
