Quite some time ago someone asked if it was legal to seine minnows on the Mississippi. I either missed the answer or it didn’t get answerd. Can anyone give me any info on this or should I contact the DNR?

Jeff, I’d advise you to contact the dnr in your area on this one. Since the Miss. borders several states, I don’t think anyone other than someone from Minn. can answer this question for you. I can look it up in our regulations, but that will only be Ia. laws.
    Sorry

I am not sure about Wisconsin, but in Minn you can seine on public waters if they are for your own personal use. If you plan on selling them you must get a permit.

My question this summer was whether or not you could while you had other fishing gear in the boat. I never did find an answer nor did I contact the DNR. If you find out, would you put up a post?

I read the MNdnr laws and to me I think it says you can seine from any waters “except trout waters without a permit” with exceptions for size of seines and the taking of certain types. I have not checked with Wi. dnr laws.
