    Found these photos in Bob’s Bait shop in La Crosse. Apparently some youngster who had just gotten a new bass boat was hauling a little too fast last Thursday through a backwater slough in pool 7, hit a stump, and launched his boat and 2 passengers into a tree! Luckily nobody was hurt.

    How fast does a bass boat go with a 225 hp and an inexperianced driver.

    How, exactly, do you get a 2000+ pound boat and motor like that out of the tree and back in the drink? Not like you can get a tow truck out there.

    Do you know what slough that is, it looks familiar. Of course, there are only about 2,357 sloughs out there that look like that.

    Holy Smokes,
    I thought I pulled a bone-headed move when I put a scratch on my new Fishawk first time out. Wonder if there was any alcohol involved? How fast will a 225 push a boat like that? lucky they weren’t killed.

    It has never ceased to amaze me that you need a license to drive a car and you have to take a training course to buy a 4-wheeler but if you write a check they just drop the keys in your hands and leave people to figure out the boat for themselves! Lucky that nobody is dead!

    I’ve shared that same sentiment here before and few if any seemed to agree with me. Cripes, driving a car is easy… a boat with a 200+ HP motor… in big waves… fog…. crowds with no “apparent” rules governing spped, distance from other boats, etc.

    Its kinda nice to know I wasn’t completely alone on that one!

    A guy by the name of wide open willey put his Ranger so far up in the trees & brush that those running by could’nt see it. Took twelve guys to carry & drag it out. At the following Cedar Rapids bass club meeting they presented a rody knob, for his steering wheel {John}
