Today i fished rocks with my friends casey goode and cody hackett. we were throwing crankbaits along the rocks. right away, casey caught a little rockbass, but that was it for him. I threw out and pretty quickly, i caught a good eating sized channel cat. I kept throwing a little longer and then i had a real nice sauger on, but it came off right at the boat since it was barely hooked. Next, i got a quick largemouth, about 13 inches, and it was just buldging with crawdads! Here is the part that almost made my day: I cast out, started reeling and then WAMM! I set the hook on it and was in for an awesome fight! It was a big smallie, about 18 inches and was keeping my pole doubled over the side of the boat. The guys were like: what is it? and i am like DUHH it is a big smallie! would you get the net?! So casey grabs the net, sticks it down there and feeewwwwwwooop Out flys the crankbait, and into casey’s hand! what happened was the net hit the bait! WOW what a great netter he is! next time i will net it myself
As we moved down the rocks, i caught another fish: a decent 15 inch walleye on my crankbait. That was it for this spot, but i still managed a nice 10 inch crappie later on while throwing a “big crappie spinner” in a big isolated weed bed/ lily pads.

pretty good night, but i wish i could have stayed longer, afterall i just got a call from casey and he said he went back to one of the spots and caught several big northern! I was the one that recommened the spot and now he has me tied for biggest northern: 38″. I am happy for casey and his big northern(S) but i must admit that i am jelous!
