I looked up the pool 14 map and noticed several areas that were covered with red dots. The legend didn’t have them listed. I wonder if anyone can tell me what they symbolize. thanks

some of those dots can show where not to anchor or dredge

Who made the map? The dots could represent anything including hazards to avoid or places to fish, or channel markers. Got to see the map before a correct answer can be given.

The maps are on the Iowa DNR website. Some areas of dots are along the shore, others are by wingdams, and others are mid channel. They sure have me stumped.

Usually any map that I look at with red dots means that I have just caught a bunch of white bass and my hands are bleeding a lot.

With my dial up connection and my lack of computer knowledge I don’t think I can help you. Their new website has me confused and I’m sure I don’t have the needed tools to see that map.
    sorry

Never mind my last post. I went to the basement and dug out my corps charts, which is probably what you got from the dnr site. The legend has the red dots as submerged structure. Wing dams, and underwater protection from erosion.

Thanks for the information. I’m going down that way next month.

I just went down to the basement to fetch my old river map. In the legend on this map the red dot’s indicated moorings. When I look on my newer map (2001) they do not show these moorings anymore. The older maps had much more detail than the newer ones. I would like to see the older version back in print.
