I am hoping to catch some of these “other” fish. Any body have recommendations as for where to find these fish or how to catch them? Thanks

I can recommend http://www.garfishing.com , menu item #4, “How to Catch a Gar”. There’s other gar info there too so that’s one of your three advised! Good luck on the other two!

As a kid I caught many a Gar on lower pool 8. Lake Winona reportedly has state record size Bowfin.

Hey Swimwizz where are you located. I should know as I believe I asked you before.Hey if you put that info in your profile no one will ask again. I know some backwater spots for bowfin on the Chippewa if you have a smaller boat.I also can find you some shovelnose sturgeon. As far as gar I haven’t a clue. Steve

I’m not sure exactly but if memory serves me correctly there was a gar topic some time last year from Carp Chaser and I don’t remember who submitted the site but someone posted it and I went to check it out…………for curiousity sake. I haven’t forgotten about it since but I haven’t visited there more than 4 times in the last year. If not for swimwizz’s inquiry, I don’t know when my next visit would’ve been. It’s a cool place to check out something different though!

No problem I’d like to get together and do a little fishing. I can show you some shore spots and some spots for the skiff. How small is the skiff. I’m about three hundred pounds and I’d hate to sink it. Steve

Neat story. He was the fourth fisherman struck by a jumping sturgeon. Wow whats the chance of that happening even once?
