Idea for next year – or later this year

I posted this reply on the thread by rivereyes looking for a spot in the boat – i thought it might have got overlooked, so i thought i would repost it.

Just a thought for next years tourney – how about signing up guys with boats and then have them draw for partners with guys without boats. The contest is not a big money tourney so that would be a great way to pair guys up so they get a chance to meet other anglers and also to hopefully share knowledge with each other. I know i benefited greatly by sharing my boat with fishnhunt58 and rivereyes. If not saturday, maybe a 2nd event where everyone contributes some money towards a cookout with adult beverages afterwords. Maybe just come up with a few prizes or create a traveling trophy. I think that would be a great way to keep up the tradition on this board of helping each other become better anglers.

I think we should have a permanent “Trips to trade” forum here on FTR for those that might want to share their boat. This forum would accomplish exactly what you’re talking about, year around. And about the traveling trophy… I like that idea too. I’ll get with the co-cheese and see what he thinks and maybe come out with something retroactively to get that tradition started.

Kind of what the Walleye Searchers do, eh? I think that is a great idea.

I like that idea also, that’s how Walleye Searchers run there tournaments, it is a lot of fun because you get to fish with a different person each month. I learn something new with each new person that I fish with, & that is what EFN and Walleye Searchers is all about sharing info and making new friends.

For anyone who is interested in Walleye Searchers tournaments you do not have to come to the meetings, you can just fish tournaments if you want. The only cost is a $25 membership for the year and if you are a non boater $20 to the boater for gas. I would love to see FTR do something like this, I would even be willing to help organize it.

James With the old mill fishin team, we give out the big fish trophy. This trophy is put on your wall at home, to be proud of. Makes quite a conversation piece. What it is, is a wood grain toilet seat which for 7-8 years has been passed to the biggest catch of the trip. Each year we burn in the name we give the trip, alot of really good stories. Just something we do and have alot of fun with.

Lifes to short to fish with dead minnows! Jim

I think it’s a good idea Todd. Why wait until next year? We have half the summer left and fall fishing yet to come.

    How about it James????

Good Idea. Since we are throwing out ideas how about a link where it would bring up a page? of friends of EFN. When were in that neck of the woods try and support that business or at your local store buy Swiegert brats,Swiss Miss pudding or whatever. I think you all will get the idea. Some of the small business may benifit and it won’t hurt future prizes any either. Just a thought. Steve
