Black river launch

Is there a boat launch to the black river around the Galesvile area? Any ramp will do, Any info would be great.

The only decent launch is on Hwy 35 between Tremp and Holmen. There is a spot you could possibly launch under Hunters Bridge on 53 but it is very steep and you might need a winch to get back out.

Care to be more specific(between holmen and tremp)? Isnt there one before Galesville on 53 where the bridge goes over? Or is that “hunters” bridge?

yes, that is Hunter’s bridge.

Isn’t there a camp ground right there, I think it’s rivers edge? I am looking to put in around that area.

River’s Edge doesn’t have a ramp But the Hunter’s Bridge ramp is right across the Hwy from River’s Edge. Hope that helps some

That Hunter’s bridge ramp by the trailer court really isn’t much of anything. I’ve humped canoes and 12 foot flats up and down it (not fun), but I can’t see getting a bigger boat in there unless something’s changed (a lot).

Best bet, unless you’ve got a (car-top boat or canoe) is to put in at the landing on the highway between Trempealeau and Holmen. Decent ramp, and now with the water level up you can motor upstream without hitting EVERY log and stump. You still might hit a few. It’s a ways, but there are some nice spots on the way.

There are some big smallies in that stretch and they get that way because access is a [censored].
