I was out this past weekend. Put the boat in at Dubuque. Both ramps are open for business. Most of the boats were up below the dam. I did fish downstream for a few hours and did alright. We had 4 big male walleye all right about 21-1/2″ and one under 15″ downstream. The big males were long and skinny. We did get some nice saugers up near the dam in about 20′ to 24′ of water. All fish were caught on plastics. 3″ Pearl & Red Shad on 1/8 oz to 1/4 oz plain lead head jigs and 4″ BFT purple ringies with white tails on plain jigs heads were the best on Sunday.
I have been chomping at the bit to get back out this week but everytime I think I have a chance something seems to come up. Hopefully I will make it out on Saturday to work the edges of a few sand flats between wingdams.
