I am going to mount a 8′ antenna on my boat. Is it best to mount it by the center console or at the stern? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Where does one get clips to hold the antenna other than the mounting bracket?

    Hi~
I had my antenna mounted with the base adjacent to the console on my 1775 pro v. I have it the same way now on my 1900. I don’t recall seeing it mounted other ways….but I guess I haven’t paid too much attention to that. It worked great like that. It’s also so easy to just put it up and down when you want it on the water…even can be done while running. I’ve seen the clips at marine dealers.
    good luck

Agree. You want to mount your antenna as far away from other electronics as possible. Nothing worse than hearing your transducer popping through the speaker of your VHF radio.
