i want to start exploring pool 2 in the next few weeks, but would like to know if there are any safety issues that i should be aware of. i have fished the miss before, but down around winona. if there are any need-to-know details that could save me some problems, i would be more than happy to hear about them.

i have a 14 foot with a 20 horse on it, is this enough boat for pool 2?. how is the boat traffic?.

    thanks for any info, bigshooter

That boat should be fine. You will want to keep a eye out for floating ice. Some of the clear stuff can be tricky to spot. If water levels start to come up keep a eye open for debre also. With out much snow this might not be much concern this year.
Stay between the cones in the center of the river. Between the cones and shore is where the wingdams are.
You shouldnt find much for boat traffic this time of year except for warm days like tommorrow. Then there might be 20 -30 boats out. Still plenty of river to fish.

Good luck and enjoy learning the new water.

We were out on P2 last weekend in a 14ft w/25 motor and had no problem at all. Well….except it was windy and I had to sit in the front and hit all the waves and killed my back but other than that you should have no problem at all wit that boat. Just don’t overload it. If you look under Steve Ds report on P2 there are pictures we posted from the day out. Those were just some of the fish. Good Luck!!!!
