Merc outboard help!

    I am trying to convert an 1986 mercury 18xd motor from a shift lever setup back to a tiller control. I can not find any instructions in the shop manual I have. Does anyone have a 18xd that would help out with a picture of the linkage setup?

    You may want to call over to Twin City Outboards located in Shakopee, Mn. 952.496.1951 (The place is an boat motor junk yard)

    More than likely they have one laying around there you could take a look at. I’ve had them rebuild a recoil on an old Merc, the work was done right at a resonable price. Might want to ask what they would charge you to do the work….???

    I found a solution!! Thanks for the input. I found an exploded diagram @ http://www.dougrussell.com. This shows how to put all the parts back together.
