just wondering what you guys that throw alot of cranks have for a crankbait rod. i’m looking for a casting setup, for mid – to large size cranks, like DT series and rattlin’ raps. i have the avid AC70MM, and the avid AC70MHM in mind……any opinions?.

    any help would be appriciated.

    thanks, josh b

Would love to help with sugestions but I use all spinning gear for casting cranks on the river .

I like the 6’6″MF St Croix avid spiining rod for mid size cranks and the 7′ M model for the bigger cranks. The 6’6″ will handle the bigger cranks but it gives the rod a good work out when reeling back to the boat up-river in heavy current.

Maybs some of the bass guys will see your post. This should be right up their ally

I have the ac66mm and love it for smaller cranks. For bigger ones i have a st croix fiberglass 7 foot medium action that works well also. If you are looking at big cranks the ac70mhm would be a good rod as would the fiberglass model. For traps i use the xf models, not sure why but they seem to work well for those fast moving baits and for ripping out of the grass is nice to have more backbone instead of a full rod moderate action.
