Does anyone fish Merrick state park backwaters?

Is there anyone on here that fishes the backwater areas of Merrick State Park? I have been fishinf there for a number of years now, and I see alot of people fishing the main channels but never anyone tucked back in the slop. Is there anyone out there who loves this apparently rarely touched area? If so let’s discuss. Will be up there this weekend for 5 days and was wondering what the status was as of today.

I have fished these for bass and pike. The largest pike has been 39″ but have seen larger ones. We have only caugth the large pike when the water tep was under 62 degrees in the bays off the backwater channel. The bass have been tucked way back in the thick pads and under trees you need to work to get back to them. Slugo’s , scum frogs, and spinner baits have worked well.
