Hot Topwater Lures 4 the Mississippi Backwaters

Just thought I would post some of the Lures that are hot on the back water areas.

1. Strike King Grassy Frog / Grassy Frog Junior

2. Heddon – Moss Boss (Hard to find but are still out there)

3. Scum Frog/Scum Rat

4 Thundertoad (This little In-line Buzzer Kills the Pike)

5. Northwoods Jawbreakers (Yellow and white)

These are a few of the top producers, there are a few more but guy has to have some secrets. Ha Ha!

I had been out on 5A and 6 and still have not seen a real HOT topwater bite yet. Are you in very calm/shallow back water or is there some flow? Slop, Rocks what has been working and biting? Smallies or Large mouth?

I am in very shallow, (sometimes only 1.5 to 2 ft. deep) Very Weedy, very calm water. Usually I work as far back as I can on a backwater inlet and work my way out towards the river. I will go as far up Trempealeau river as possible (usually around Millers pond) and work my way back going into every inlet I can find. I really think that now that the river levels are more back down to normal now, we should see a more stable and consistant top water bite. When I catch Bass it is usually always Large mouth. I catch 5 largemouth to every one smallie. Good luck!
