Just a note: I receive my Prescott ’05 launch pass a couple weeks ago. The out of town price is now $35. a year.

I see that the pass has come up a bit over the years. It is still a bargain. Having a dock and launching in less current makes it very easy for a guy to head down there solo. A bonus is having dock help during the summer. Those young guys will wade out to chest high to help get boats on the trailer.
DinoJanuary 26, 2005 at 4:43 pm #338779I like it because I always have a cop to greet me at 3 in the morning. They patrol all night. Hastings ramp is nice and free, but I think they close’er down at 10 pm.
It went up $5 from last year.
January 31, 2005 at 9:40 pm #339842Hastings doesn’t necessarily close as long as you don’t stay all night.
No overnight parking.
They patrol it to at night. How do I know?
I am sometimes the one doing the patroling.January 31, 2005 at 9:59 pm #339845If your a catman/night fisherman I would not use the Hastings ramp. The tickets you for staying past closing time are fairly reasonable though
February 1, 2005 at 12:06 am #339874Now Clarence, you didn’t put a little piece of paper on a red pickup did you?
Dirk…he didn’t mean it!
February 2, 2005 at 2:59 am #340148just went down to prescott landing in town. The river is wide open but the launch is not. Just thought maybe is someone had a plow on their truck they could bust it open for the pool 3 guys! If any help is needed let me know.
February 2, 2005 at 3:30 am #340161Hey Clarence, Can Dirk and I call the cop shop and notify them that we are cat fishing, and park there?
TuckFebruary 2, 2005 at 3:42 am #340165Tuck They don’t usually bother fisherman. They may stop and check you out tho. Probably a phone call to let them know might be an idea. They made the rule so that we didn’t end up with the twin city weekenders filling up the parking lots. You know what…. I will ask tomorrow and let you know what they say.
Brian.. I have Hung a few warnings but that’s about it. Being a reservist I don’t ahve the power to ticket. I get a kick out of talking to the people. If you know my brother, than you know what I am like in the BS area.
Most people abide by the rules and respond without going to that extent.February 2, 2005 at 12:25 pm #340193Come on…. Your nothing like me in the BS department!
Guy’s……… Don’t trust him, He told me the fish were biting on isy last week and when I got there…..well you know!February 2, 2005 at 11:50 pm #340413Same old story…
shows up 45 minutes after I called him…he sat 3 ft from me and couldn’t catch a fish. I had 10 in the bucket. What was the problem?
Tuck heres the answer the sgt gave me.
He hasn’t seen a ticket, in a long time, for parking in the lot. As long as you are not hanging out there.
However he said that you are taking your chances on getting a citation. If someone complains you are more likely to get a citation. He said he would do it. If he got a ticket he just wouldn’t do it anymore.
But like I said there have been people down there fishing after hours and I haven’t seen anyone get a ticket. If they are hanging around tho they might get one.
I figure if my vehical is there and I’m not then I have an arguement in court. I figure and empty vehical doesn’t constitute your presence.
Anyway if I were you I would do it.
Most of the cops are fisherman too.February 3, 2005 at 1:39 am #340459I got my ticket about four years ago. Came in about 2:00-3:00am and had a ticket on the truck for being in the park after hours. Ever since then I’ve just used other landings.
February 4, 2005 at 1:30 pm #340848I guess my thought is (and I’m not sure of the wording at the landing) that if it says “closes at 10”, I would stay out of there. Now if it was change to “Closes at 10 for everyone but catfisherman”…well I would still get a ticket!
February 7, 2005 at 4:06 pm #341469I am going to leave a sheet of paper on my dash, in plain view, stating I am catfishing, and will also leave my phone number on it in case there is an issue. I just don’t want cops calling me to see how the fishing is! (Mike Munson!) LOL! I know he is a fishing nut, and our sons hang out. He is welcome in the boat any time. I used to be a part time cop in Hastings for 9 years in the 80’s. One time, during a Mayfly hatch, I turned both of the spotlights onto the hood of the squad, and within minutes, the hood and car were covered! I wish I would have had a camera that night!
TuckFebruary 8, 2005 at 2:34 pm #341701Chris, would Mike be the fella that fishes the bank by the dam frequently?
Ps…write your phone number large and tip it up in the window…so I don’t have to get out…for a report!
February 12, 2005 at 12:16 am #342613Speaking of Munson..I ran into him yesterday and he said that if you are going to be out fishing late call the sgt on duty and let him know what time you will be back.
Just thought that I would pass that on.February 12, 2005 at 3:59 am #342649Thanks Clarence!
Chris, I ran into an of duty HPD officer a couple times last year along the bank opposite of the landing….just wondering if you knew him.
February 12, 2005 at 11:41 am #342664I work with all the officers. Some more than others due to shift work.
Opposite the landing?
Were you on Washington co side or were you on Lake Rebecca?February 14, 2005 at 12:46 pm #342998I know Paul. He is one of the “Old Guard” that I used to work with. I used to live across the street from him. My Ex still lives there with all of my money!
TuckMarch 1, 2005 at 6:20 am #346258So let me get this straight… a Mudduck (read: out-of-state, for the Cheeseheads among us),(by the way, I was happy to see Randy go, I wish he would have taken the rest of the team with him) like myself can get a pass to launch/park at the Prescott ramp, all year, for $35? Sure beats paying $10 a shot or $100 a season at the Hastings marina. Although, talk about a simple ramp for a guy by himself….
March 1, 2005 at 1:09 pm #346279That is correct Sir! Because you have the label “Mudduck” you will have to pay more ($35), but after that…they don’t hold it against you.
Send your $35. to:
Boat Permit
800 Borner St N
Prescott, WI 54021Along with your return address.
The bass will be hitting down there…soon!

Brian, do you make the check payable to the City Of Prescott?
That is correct sir! Although I had a hard time not having you make it out to me…
Greg…Since this long winter started…I’ve picked on Bass, Bart Flavor (or what ever his name is) the Vikings and Golf…it’s a new cycle for bass…
And yes, I know EVERYONE is waiting for spring to come to get me away from the computer!
(At least no one has started a joke thread yet!)
March 7, 2005 at 10:33 pm #347822I’ve been meaning to ask a couple of questions but our computer has had a virus so we were down for awhile. Is the Prescott launch available 24 hours without any nasty little tickets. What is the current like there, can one guy launch without problems? Is there a dock? I think there is but I’m not sure. How large is the parking lot and how early does it fill up? Thanks for any help.
March 8, 2005 at 4:51 am #348003Hey Redneck!
I seldom get there before 8 pm…but I would guess on weekends it fills quickly…about the normal weekend times. 9 ish on Saturdays, 11ish on Sundays.
You can launch 24/7 by placing your $10 in a provided envelope and leaving it on your dash. Or with a $35 yearly permit.
There’s two docks there normally. There is currant there, but using the upstream side of the dock allows a one man load/launch.
Someone else will have to give a report on available space during the day on weekends, but weekdays it’s wide open…
