    I catch a ton of sheepshead from the St. Croix (and the Mississippi north of mnpls.) The best method I know of is to throw a crawler or some type of worm about 15-30 feet from shore (shallow rocky areas). This consistently works well for catching lots of them in the 1 to 3 pound range. You will probably get a few redhorse, smallmouth, and small cats doing this as well. I have never caught a big one, I assume you need to be in deeper water for that.
