Anyone fish pools 5a and 6

Hi all, after hang’n around and reading some posts and reports, I thought I’d join in. This is my first post. I am wondering if anyone fishes pools 5a or 6. I live in Winona so these are the two pools I mainly fish, I haven’t seen much info on these pools yet. I for one, haven’t been able to get out near enough the last week or so, but that WILL change. I split my time fishing for Walleyes and Smallmouth and sometimes Northern, and look foward to sharing my info as well as receiving any that anyone will offer, so I hope to here from you all.

Welcome aboard ilbfishn. I fish these pools, but I am boatless and relatively new to the area so I throw from shore or ride with haywood04. Caught my first smallmouth couple weeks ago, love em!

I too fish 5A and 6 most of the time when I’m not out chasing the trout. I live in Rushford but have fished the Winona area for about 12 years. I have to admit that I don’t spend near enough time on pool 6, but I hope that changes this summer. Pool 5A, at least in my opinion, has been a very consistent producer for both walleyes and bass. I mostly fish the main channel and wing dam structure with crank baits, live bait and 3″ tubes. I plan to fish more of the backwater areas this summer chasing the LM bass and panfish with my boys.
