I have lived in se mn for 25 years. However until recently i have headed “up north” for the majority of my fishing. I have been fishing pool 4 for only about 2 years now and can’t believe what great fishing i have at my doorstep. I was just wondering how the rest of you guys rate this fishery compared to Minnesota’s best walleye lakes( mille lacs, LOTW, leech).

I dont fish a whole lot up north yet but I do think we have a excellent fisherie down and as a bonus you can usually take home a dinner or two and chances for a piggie are common. FF

Ive hit LOTW and the dead sea…. I would put redwing right up there in quality and quantity…. but I would have to give the “atmosphere” award to LOTW…… and the good ol dead sea just does not have a pleasure boat crowd either……. but for just plain results… pool 4 is a tough one to equal let alone beat….. but those other waters you mentioned can do it at times……

Pool 4 is a world class fishery. Just look at all the big Tournaments that come here to fish. PWT, MWC, RCL etc only go to the best fisheries and thats why they come here. We don’t realize how lucky we are. Bill

I think those of us that live close enough to fish pool 4 on a regular basis are fortunate. Ive been to Canada several times and never have caught the number of walleyes in one day that I have on Pool 4. Their are other reasons to go other places mind you, for example, I love being on Winnie but dont always do that great their. Going into Ontario and beyond is always a special trip, the fishing is very good and the fish quality is the best if you like eating fish. But the river is special regardless of the pool. Pool 4 is a walleye/sauger producing machine.
