a 54 modulus would be around at least an Im7, but probable an IM8, the higher the number the more graphite it has, so the more sensitive it will be, most of my rods are IM7/8’s and I feel they are quite sensitive. there is no missing the feel on anything thing vertical. I like them. sorry can not help you with a St Croix comparision. their rods would be rated with the IM number or modulus number. I know James likes St Croix, and know he will jump in here as soon as he sees your question. hope that helps some. Jack.

It also relates to the “cross scrim” of the graphite. The higher the modulus the more graphite in the scrim or weaved graphite! If you held a graphite rod up to the light you can see the cross scrims. Granted, all rods aren’t created equally, with a few not using the straight scrim.

Jack is right with the sensitivity factor as well!
