Does anybody fish Lake Isabel other than through the ice? With the spastic/cold weather this spring, maybe it’s worth a shot. How is the water level this time of year? Anything going on in the Vermillion?

Juggs, I’ve tried the Vermillion numerous times this spring and have had no luck on the northerns and ‘eyes. The crappies, now that’s a different story. There have been a lot of very large crappies pulled out of the Blackbird Tressel area. I’ve talked to a lot of other people who have also fished the Vermillion this spring and it sounds like they’ve had the same luck.

isabel has been slow this spring.

I was down there last Sat and caught the crappie on a feed.

they were chasing minnows allong the shore line.

This lake doesn’t have the fishing pressure in the summer that it has in the winter. They are there just tough to catch.

Mwchiefs, went down to Blackbird for the first time Sunday and found nothing. The water is up and the bridge was almost completely blocked by floating timber. I was looking for slack water but most of the wood was in faster moving current and I didn’t even bother to fish it. Could you give me some pointers on where the slabs hang, or is it a case of having to wait for the water to drop? Thanks.

Chappy, I tried Isabel Sun. with no luck. I fished about one third of the shoreline, even found some stick-ups that thought might hold some. Anything in particular that you might suggest–time of day, area, etc?

Like I said it’s really a picky lake and bite when they bite.

I saw you fishing over by the outlet. I would suggest that you stay along the North shore and west shore in the bay along the tracks.

The south end is extremely shallow. As you probably figured out. That would be my suggestions. Good luck.
