Weather permitting I want to take my 6 year old daughter (or as she would say ” DAD I WILL BE 7 IN JUNE!”) fishing somewhere on pool 4 on Saturday, of course I would love to get into some walleye or sauger but she does not care what we catch as long as we are catching fish. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try the Loch side of the Dam, 18-21 ft of water. You will see the fish on your graph. I would recommend vertical jigging. Not a lot of Big fish in there but good numbers.ScottS

    Steve,

If you are looking for good action fish the dam area for white bass. The white’s are thick in their right now. The lock side has some white bass holding on the rocks as of late also. Just cast around and when you find one you will find around 10 to 50 more willing to take your bait. Then just throw down the anchor and let her have a go at um.

    Good Luck!

I thought this website was where people could help each other. I didn”t think reefrunners response was nice at all. The man asked for some help for himself and his daughter and he got rude answer. Thanks to the others that did try to help him.

i agree…….why would he want to hire a guide….if he was gonna hire a guide he wouldnt have asked for a suggestion on where to fish….everyone cant afford to hire a guide, they are great but its like launching at everets, not necessary but its nice to do, and its more expensive….

Actually we ended up not taking the boat I was worried about the threat of showers, nothing would turn her off to fishing more than to get caught in a down pour in the boat, that is the last thing I would want to do. We did take our poles along but never ended up using them, we checked out a used boat for sale then we went to Smithy’s and looked at some more boats, had lunch at burger king, and of course my daughter insisted that we had to check out at least some of the garage sales. We finished the afternoon checking out the Kafan Bass weigh in, actually I checked out the weigh in and my daughter hit the playground in the park, all in all it was a fun day for dad and daughter. I also got some good ideas for the Lake Pepin Open, if anyone has a opportunity to check out the Kafan weigh in tomorrow it would be well worth your time, they put on a very well run tournament, I was very impressed. Best weight today was 25.22 pounds and the big fish for the day went over 6 pounds. One last thing, in ReefRunner’s defense he was not being rude it was just a joke, I have had the pleasure of fishing with Greg a couple of times a few years back, he is a great guy, there is none better in my book, and oh by the way Greg did send me a tip in a private message and had I took the boat out today I know it would have been right on the money. Thanks Greg!
