    Guys,

It’s been a while since I bought a crank bait, but am gearing up for some crankin this summer and want to purchase some Bomber Model As.

I have looked in BPS and Cabelas, and a couple spots on the web and can not find my favorite color, Fire Engine Red with Black Marks.

Does anyone know of a source for this color Bomber Model A. Looking for the 6A size specifically.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Yo Bomber—Interesting, I’ve been looking for 4yrs for the same red Bomber but with an “orange” belly, coach dog pattern ! 92-93 I did some promo work for the Company and they gave me a bunch of prototypes to grade out. That color scheme was hot!!! But they only produced it for a couple yrs.

I’ve seen the color pattern on their stick baits but I found them at a bait shop that sells “liquidator stuff”. Good luck Tell me if you find ’em.

    Kensyl and Rivereyes,

Thanks for the replies. I will let you know if I come across any. But they better have a lot cause this is my confidence color for the river.

Rivereyes, I have already ordered a couple of the color you suggested, and I like this color. But >>>>>>>

Here comes the story (remember its been a few years and I am at heart a fisherman)

About 15 years ago, my buddy and I got into trolling and casting cranks on the the Miss. We both were using bomber Model As, size 6A with basically the same rod, reel line, ect. The only difference was the color. His favorite was the chart crawdad (a real good color) and my favorite was, what I call fire engine red with black marks (could have been more orange than I remember). Anyway, to make a long story short, on most occasions I kicked his butt. The only thing that saved my and my limited supply was that he was too stuborn to change.

GUAM BOMB BOMBER NO LONGER SELLS THAT COLOR! RED CRAWDAD IS AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN GET NOW DAYS! WHAT I DID WAS BOUGHT A AIRBRUSH KIT FROM A HOBBY SHOP AND THE PAINT , SANDED DOWN THE BODYS AND MADE MY OWN! NOT REAL HARD WITH A GOOD AIRBRUSH SET! A GOOD AIRBRUSH WILL RUN AROUND $150 BUT PRICELESS WHEN YOU PAINT YOUR OWN LURES! YOU CAN PURCHASE BLANK 6A BODYS FROM BOMBER! GOOD LUCK!

    Bass Tracker,

Thanks for the info. Do you have contact information for Bomber. Getting unpainted bodies sounds good.

Got any pictures of your handy work?

Yo Guys — This is showing my age but the dots your refering to used to be called “coach Dog” pattern. The modern day stuff doesn’t call it that anymore– Tiger now, like “fire tiger”

Bomber gave me a half dozen in that color scheme in 92 and between river trammel nets and N.Pike I eventually lost ’em all. It wasn’t to long about mid 90’s Cordell Walley Divers came out with the all red——–I airbrush the orange belly.

    Tracker——ya use’n “vinyl red”

I’ve also had great luck with the a red Wally Diver from Cordell. Very good summertime bait. I like the idea of painting the belly orange. Thanks Kensyl! Guam Bomb, the red Wally Diver has black markings also. Give it a try!
