I really have no opinion of the bass boats that fly by in the backwaters. I know when they have to run all out, and I also know when they have seen me and have had plenty of time to slow down. Some guys do slow down when they can, some guys don’t. I don’t flip the bird or yell, it’s not going to change anything. I don’t have a fast walleye boat (75 hp tiller) and I myself have rounded a corner only to find a pan fisher right there. I shut her down and say I’m sorry right away. What scares me is fishing a corner, or drifting a section just above or below a corner, and hearing the fast boat coming and knowing I can’t do anything in time. I have to rely soley on him seeing me, and avoiding me. That doesn’t make me feel very safe. All you guys can say what you want good/bad about this subject. All I can say is that there are alot of boats out there that go fast, and they ain’t all Bass Boats, and when you are running the backwaters at those speeds accidents can happen and you better be prepared to suffer the consequesces if you hit someone. I can live with slowing down on certain corners and finding out when I get around them that I slowed down for nothing. I couldn’t live with myself if I killed someone by trying to get to my hole in a hurry.

Very interesting post, you know when they race cars, they always have a special place like a race trak for them to do it,you don’t see them speeding through a residential zone, or down main street.I wish somebody would decide if the River is for fishing or RACING!!!!!!!!

    Day Care ?

I have respect for all fishermen..

I have even more for those that know how to run their rig by another with out throwing any wake and with out the high speeds 20 feet away..

Krisko,I don’t know if you where anchored,But on some parts of the river if you set down in one or two feet of water the boater may have to travel miles before they can get back on plane so to all the anchor loveing freeks out there, the electric trolling moter was invented a very long time ago,but I will alaways set down if it looks like a bad situation.I have never heard of a bass fisherman hitting another boat in this situation. My problem is not boaters it is cars that tail ride, cut people off these people hurt and kill people every day. Each boating situation must be delt with on a event by event situation.
