I hope noone is offended by me posting this here, but it does say local events. I just wanted to inform everyone what the Pooh Bear open is all about. The Pooh bear is a fishing tournament we have held for the past 3 years in honor of Paul Martin, an avid fisherman of pool 4. Paul was killed in a car accident almost 4 years ago. This tournament raises money for the red wing hockey association and the red wing wildlife league, two of paul’s favorite organizations. Paul’s wife and 2 of his closest friends have put the tournament together for the past 3 years. The tournament has attracted between 65-75 boats. Some of the areas better fisherman also get involved in this tournament so the competition will be there. The prize money has also gotten larger each year and there is a party afterwards that has a raffle with great prizes. Almost every boat usually wins something. We also have a seperate raffle this year with 2 guns, a stay at ely grand lodge, and a pair of red wing boots. You can get in contact with me or through the tournament page on this website will get you to Scott Loer or John Ferrin who run the tournament. I’m sorry I’m getting windy. We unfortunately had to move the tournament to july 6th this year, in years past it was the first weekend in june, so it might be harder for people this close the 4th. If possible we would love to see you all there. The cost is only $25 per person and you can have more than 2 in the boat. The prize money usually exceeds the $1,000 mark. Thanks for taking the time to read this and hope to see you all in july.
