Does anyone have any info or input on using Super Lines on Planer Boards and having problems with the clips not holding on to the small diameter line ?

I just started experimenting with them also. I have found that the Gary Roach board by Church tackle has been good for the super braids with the 14lb test 6lb diameter. I have been using Offshore board with the mono lines. I hope this helps

I believe it was the last issue of “Walleye Insider” ….. They had an article on planer boards where they indicated that when using superlines, by “wraping” the line one loop around and through the first clip (Off-Shore type) a person could avoid the infamous superbraid “slip.” They claimed it works well in that condition. I have not tried the “wrap” method yet, but it sounded OK to me. Hope that helps a bit….. But if you find a better way, let us all know. I like/use “Off Shore” boards, and have experienced the same problem.

    ec,

I use the super lines on boards all the time. Just use the method that splitshot described in the above, it works great. Never have any complications doing it this way.

    Good luck!

We use planer boards with the super lines also. I did not like the loop around the snap method I had to use with the off shore boards. But we liked the way the off shore boards ran. We liked the tattel flag set up that allows us to tell if there is any debrie or a small fish on your line.

So we modified the off shore boards by making the front snap a roach snap. The same as the one that comes on the roach board. These snaps hold the super lines good and don’t hurt the performance of the board.

Waiting to try my new offshore planer boards yet, but they recommend the “red clip” for super lines. Has anyone tried those on the boards with super lines? Also purchased the tattle tail flags. Any comments on them?

I use off shore boards. I also use off shore snap weights. If you are having trouble with super lines slipping try the clips that come with the snap weight system (Red Ones), they hold real good.ScottS

I have used the tattel flags and like them. You need to play with them alittle but once you get it adjisted to what ever it is you are pulling live bait or cranks or whatever you use, they work great.

As far as the clips are concerned the red off shore just have not performed well for me with the braids. They groove the rubber and then slide down the line unless you loop them.
