Is the pool 3 access on Sturgeon Lake by the T.I. casino still closed? Was it ever closed? I was there a couple weeks ago and there was a sign posted saying the access would be closed starting July 14th or so and not reopening until sometime mid-late August. It also sugusted usingthe North Lake access as an alternative…..yeah right. Also how would one get to the other access on the south end of pool 3 that is a ways south of Prescott on the Wisconsin side maybe 3 miles or so b4 you get to the dam? It looks like a pay access.

There is a ramp in Diamond Bluff, WI just south of the Gem Bar and Grill. I haven’t used it in several years but it looks like a decent ramp. The parking lot for the ramp is about a half block south by the park. I thought it was for Diamond Bluff residents only but somebody posted that it’s open for others for a $5.00 fee. This ramp gives pretty quick acess to the backwaters on the MN side but I don’t know the details about the shallow water hazards getting from the channel into the backwaters.

If you use the ramp, please update us on the details.

The ramp at Diamond Bluff is $5/day or $35 for a season. There is a pay box at the ramp. Don’t cheat, because it’s patrolled regularly and you will get a notice on your windshield. You can park at the ramp (there’s only room for 2 rigs) if you have a season pass, or you can park 1/2 block south in the lot. Don’t park on the street. The only problem with parking in the lot is that you have to time it so there isn’t huge cruiser wakes banging your boat around while you run for your vehicle . I used the ramp yesterday, and it’s in good condition. You can access Buffalo slough through Brewer lake cut which is upstream of the ramp (second cut upstream), don’t try the Sturgeon Lake cut (first cut upstream), you won’t make it unless you’ve got an airboat. A buddy of mine got his vehicle broken into twice at the North Lake access , so beware!

Thanks a lot for the scoop. I have not had any problems at the either Sturgeon lake or the North Lake access. I have been broken in to at the Vermillion River access on pool 4 by the RR bridge.
