I have a problem with my LMS-350 losing its GPS signal when starting the motor. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this problem? I have even upgraded the starting battery to one with 800 cold cranking amps. My dad has the same problem with his rig. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I experienced this problem also, what I did is put it on its own power supply.I would temporarily loose the signal, 350s seem to be very voltage sensative, since doing this I have had no problems. I wired my whole boat seperate from the main motor battery.

Hooks is right on the money. This pretty much has to be a power supply problem, either undervoltage while cranking, or overvoltage when the motor spins up.

If your trolling motor batteries are isolated from the cranking battery, you might be able to just hook into that.

What I did is took and an isolated lead from my batt. then put in a fuse/ connector strip with 8 circuts on it. Then I hooked all my elec. to this. This way everyything is isolated from vol. surge and etc. You might have a low batt. prob. also but I doubt it. The advice Hooks and Gianni gave you is just right also. i have never had a problem with mine the way I have it hooked up.

The LMS 350 will automaticlly shut down on low voltage. Not by the amount of amps in the bat, but the actual voltage. Whe you start the big engine, the amps could be drawn down to the piont that you are actually usin 9.5 volts at 50 amps in stead of 12 at 25 amps. I seperated my locator to eliminate stray niose on the run (50mph+). But I noticed when i started the engine on cold mornings, I would watch the digital voltage meter drop way down while waiting for the engine to pop.
