Fishing Redwing for the 1st time Saturday.

Hello Gentlemen, I am planning on fishing out of Redwing this Saturday and I am a little concerned after reading a few posts. Is it really that bad down there? I have a BRAND new boat that has yet to see water and more than likely I will be alone because friends are more concerned with Gopher Hockey than rippin’ eyes… I am worried about crowds and launching by myself. If anyone out there wants to go with me, I will have room and would enjoy the company while I learn the area. Are my worries warranted? Or paranoia? I really don’t want to be “that guy” that holds everyone up at the launch… are there docks at Everts? Parking? Room to fish? I just wanna get out there… for some reason, sitting in the garage, casting to a bucket just isn’t cutting it anymore! Thanks guys!

My question would be is this your first boat? If crowds are a concern you could steer around them. Don’t let the situation scare you away. If you are excited and really want to go just go for it. Like I said if your having problems with control get away from the super crowded spots and enjoy yourself. Let us know how the fishing is. I should have my boat out of storage in a week and that is one of the spots high on my list.

If you had fished the Red Wing area before I would say go for it. New boat, current, and wind make launching and loading by yourself a little tricky. I fished out of Everts last Sat. and there at least 50 rigs there before we got there, but with someone to hold the boat while I parked out in the South lot I had no problems at all. If I were you I’d get one of your buddies to ride along if you don’t want to get a few dings the first time out.

If your going to fish alone go to everts they have a big sand beach that wont hurt your boat at all and its huge there are plenty of places to put your boat where it wont get hurt. And the crowds are not that bad its just some people dont pay attention if you keep your head up and dont go so fast around the groups of people you’ll be FINE…
