Just wondering, with all this ringworm talk if anybody catches a “mixed bag” of smb, lmb, pike along with the walleye. I have been a believer in the 4″ ringworm for lmb for many years, but never caught a walleye on it- though i usually texas rig it and pitch to logs, etc.

does this technique work for eyes during the warmer months? some of the river spots i fish for bass seem like there should be walleye, but i dont think i have ever hooked an eye while bass fishing. i would be more tempted to throw the ring on gravel flats and drops where i usually crank if i thought some eyes might hit it. thanks.

They work great on wingdams in the summer for both walleyes and smallies and I know a few spots Dustin won’t even fish anymore because of all the pike he kept catching…LOL

They’ll catch just about anything that swims…

That’s right James! When the supply is low and you get in to an area the pike are stacked in, using 6lb mono a guy kind of has the disadvantage! Those green slimy critters love those ringies from my experience. It seems everthing fom pike to crappie will inhale these thing from time to time.

During the spring, when the water temps get into the 40’s, it’s not odd to catch walleyes, smallmouth, largemouth all in the same area. Some years when the water is high and I wind up in the bushes and the willows and the logs, I Texas rig ’em for walleyes. The rig doesn’t matter, getting it in the fishes face is what matters.

Before I ever heard of “Ring worm” or Drop “Shotting” I cut down Zippers (looks about the same) and three-way-rigged them for slipping down the top of wing dams. Killer rig for ANY active feeding fish (or snake if you fish Savanah)
