I am thinking about heading up to the dam and fish the Brooklyn Park side. Anyone know how “busy” it is up there this time of year? Is there a chance for a walleye?

I probably will throw out a crawler or possibly some cut bait, but perhaps even a small sucker if there is a chance at a walleye.

I wish I could help you, but I’ve only fished the BP side a couple times. I could give you dozens of spots on the CR side.

I always used to fish there in the fall partly because no one else did. Should be pretty vacant in November.

Well I can fish either side. I’ve fished the east side more, that’s why I was going to try the BP side.

Was there last night for a couple hours with some golden shiners and didn’t get a one. Dam was pretty good there for a while but seemed once that water hit that 45degree mark I’m sure most eyes fell back down river to some better holes. Only holes by the dam are within a stone throw of some very noisy construction. Good luck if you do though, always worth a shot in my eyes.

Last time I was there Friday I think…..but they closed the middle gate, and had the 1st gate on the west side really taking all the flow with the next three running small streams. Really has messed up the fishing on that side for me with them constantly changing the flow patterns on there, but I’m sure its due to the construction, at least that’s what I tell myself to feel better about it. It was at night so wouldn’t be able to give you much else BC couldn’t see how it changed the water level on the east side where the main channel flows out. The nice eddy that would form on the west side is now raging and very hard to fish. I’ll be there again within a couple days give you another report if I can. Dbright what kind of depths have you seen around the dam, when it was shallow enough last winter I would wade out to the middle rock peninsula that comes north from the island and really couldn’t find anything deeper than 6-8′ with my jig guessing. Curious if any holes to keep fish during winter, would fish there maybe 1x every 2 weeks for the entire winter last year and didn’t catch a thing past thanksgiving. Think most if not all fish migrate up, hold for awhile, then move back down once the water hits about 40. Just my humble opinion.

I went up there last December but didn’t have my graph with. This spring I went up to check it out but the high water and turbulence drove me out of there without getting to spend much time looking for holes. I fish a different dam in the fall and most eyes come out of 4-8 fow.

just got back from walking the dog at CR Dam…The gates on the BP side was wide open, and the Cr side seems close for construction. Water level are super low at this time of the year. I’ll give you hint on some where close to CR Dam to get some eye….On the rum river park at the Anoka fairgrounds, then walk backup to the train tracks. Then walk down the step slop (Caution, can be dangerous,) and cast right along the concrete post holding the train tracks….hope this help..one of my fall honey holes around Brooklyn park…good luck.

If that really was one of your spots, it won’t be anymore. There will be 50 guys from your area read that by morning. Made that mistake before

Did you notice the , he is throwing off the scent. That guy was probably slaughtering the walleyes at the dam all day long.

    I googled the train tracks.

Looks more like a cat spot to me, but that’s what I look for.

I don’t mind sharing a spot that I had enough of it to myself for the past few years..Just helping out other fellow fisherman. I’ve been in that sheo where I’ve need a good fishing spot to home just to get away from the family and relax for a few hours…And NO the ankoa dam is not hitting anything good. The Anoka dam is too shallow. Another tip for the train track is too fish parallel to the concrete post, pulling your rig super slowly upstream and wait for the tap tap..Thanks..PM me if anyone wants more detail.
