Had a great day on pool 4 yesterday.. Great hospitality at Everts…puting names to faces on the water..great weather and even managed some fish for the table….

Now the bad …the girlfriend called as I was docking the boat, when I hung up I sat my Galaxy S 4 on one of my storage boxes..tied boat up then went for vehicle keys that were in said storage box…guess what happend. ..

Yup as I opened box there went phone in the drink

For about 1.5 seconds I contemplated taking a dive after it..glad I didnt would have beem a long cold ride home. Mean while im just boiling to the highest of pisstivity,i arrive home put boat in garage to find my bag o filets, gone missing, vanished like a fart in the wind…i dont know what ticked me off more the phone or the fish? I really wanted to fry some fish last night o-well..just got off the phone and filed an insurance claim and should have another over priced smartphone by weeks end..

    I feel your pain.
Was setting out my decoys 2 weeks ago and left a zipper pocket half opened.
Torched my iphone in 15 seconds.
Paid the 100 dollar deductible and had a new one overnighted.
All seemed well until I realized 50 percent of my phone wasnt backed up.
    Lifeproof case purchased.

Sorry to hear about your phone and fillets. I should have introduced myself – I talked to you for a minute when you were getting your fish out of the live well at the dock. Nice to meet you anyway.

My buddy put his phone on one of my frequently opened storage compartments this summer. Didn’t take more than 10 minutes and I opened the storage and flipped his phone over board… He didn’t notice. So that was a fun conversation lol. Happens.

You are a rookie. By my count, I’ve dropped no less than three cell phones in the drink while fishing. The Colville put-in took one a couple years ago.

I finally learned and invested in a cheap water proof case. I recommend one highly. Also, sorry about the fillets! I just ate my Pool 4 fillets with my family in Iowa and they received very high praises.

Steve at Everts had a plastic case much like the tackle box plastic cases that locked water tight.

They float and a person could hear if the phone rang.

I don’t know if he’s carrying them or not.

They worked well for summer rains as well.

I see this as just one of the hidden costs of “staying connected”. You’re fishing, leave the damn phone in the car.

Get a Lifeproof Case! They are awesome, expensive $89, slim, and do the job. Currently only made for Samsung S3, S4 and All IPhones and IPads. My kids are life guards and used them all summer taking pictures underwater in the pool.

You make a valid point Tom..but what if problems arise as in motor problems and I get stranded on the water, or my children gets hurt at home or something..i would like to know..
I agree with ya to an extent , I hate phone calls while fishing. A few bucks is a small price to pay versus not being connected ya know.
And most importantly I us it mostly to take photos of fish..

O yea I forgot to mention I had photos of the state record walleye I caught that day on my phone.. thats my story and im sticking to it

My worst overboard item was a new pair of Raybans. I was looking over the side and they fell right off. That hurt for while.
