Fireflick, you are right. That is what I was told. The entire fish is dissolved in some type of chemical and then the amount of contaminants left are what is used to come up with the numbers. However, I am sure most of you can’t remember the last time you fried up a couple walleye heads or dorsal fins. Due to gravity most of your contaminants will be in the belly meat. If you are concerned about eating the fish out of a particular body of water: 1) Check the DNR consumption report 2) Don’t eat the head, fins, tail and guts 3) leave a little belly meat when you are cleaning the fish.
