I’ve used egg weights, bell weights, bullet weights, three way swivels, regular swivels, and so on.I went to Bass pro shop a couple of days ago and there is a guy that works there that is a long time river rat.I told him the biggest problem I had shore fishing was keeping my weight in one spot.He then showed me these weights that looked like tear drops, that were flat, and said to fish them about a foot and a half below a three way swivel, and make sure your distance to the hook is shorter, then it won’t tangle. I went to Islands of peace park(just north of 694 in fridley) on Thursday.the river was very low,but current was swift.I tried this rig and it stayed right where I casted..It seems that it will rarely get snagged.I look forward to using it when fish are around. The reason I went to this park is to see the cranes that are returning to there nests.Around 100 nests.

Those weights are nice at times, but they tend to plane in the current or spin. I used them a lot on the red river in manitoba. Now I use mostly bank sinkers since they are easier to buy

What exactly is a bank sinker? How do you rig it?Will it stay right where you cast it or will it move.Does it get snagged? If you use a three way swivel do you let out slack and tighten or just let it sit.The technique I would like to accomplish is being able to cast horizontally to a current break be able to leave it in that spot with slight movement(weight staying fixed)then slip it about 5 feet down the current line and repeat the process.
