The whole thing smells “fishy” to me. Who is to say that someone on a barge didn’t toss it there after finding it on their rig that had just come from down south. Who is to say that some tree hugger wanting to start some turmoil didn’t bring it from down south and put it there. This whole story doesn’t feel right to me. Based on historical (factual) DNR data on the movement of walleyes alone in the river, I think anyone who does not believe they are already here (way up here) is just kidding themselves. If a tagged walleye can move from Alma WI to the St. Croix River – near Stillwater – in 3 days, it is my belief they (carp of all kinds) are and have been here for some time now. IMHO, it’s too late to spend tons of money on this. …Way too late. Manage – yes. Stop – no way!

Ya know…(and I might be kidding myself) the DNR stocked 7000 blue cats at the St. Croix/Mississippi confluence in the ’70’s. That’s the last they were ever heard from.

There are plenty of blues down South, but they just don’t seem to be able to make it up here. I do believe we’ll have a few rogue fish coming by…something like 9 that we capture every 15 years or so.

Although I agree with Redneck, it sure is possible one whacked out Silver miss his mark and ended up in the hands of the DNR.

Silver carp have been caught in nets by commercial fisherman on pool 6 already…so not surprised.
