I just moved out to the SW corner of Wisconsin and was wondering if anyone could point me towards some decent fish. Not asking for your honey holes specifically, just general places to fish from shore, as I don’t have access to a boat yet.

This picture doesn’t show it very well, but there is a concrete pier stretching almost all the way across the back channel on the East side right below L&D 10 at Guttenberg. I’ve seen a lot of people fishing from it, even though I have no idea how they got out there or where they parked.

jtrunek, the pier that Gianni mentioned can be accessed from Cassville. Take a left on the north side of Cassville and proceed by the WPL powerplant and Nelson Dewey State Park. Hang another left on Closing Dam road and stay along the river. Eventually it comes to a dead end by the closing dam. The pier can only be accessed when the water is at normal stages. I’ve never fished it this time of year but during the summer its a popular spot for panfish and bass. The Wisconsin Power and Light Power plant also has a rip rap by it that produces catfish and bass from shore.

Another spot you may want to try from shore is the Potosi Boat Landing. Its also a pier that extends into the Mississippi River.

If your looking for walleye make a trip up to the Lynxville Float. There have been some good catches here and if you get chilly just step into the main building and warm up or even have them make you up a plate of food.Breakfast/Lunch or Supper.
