I am debating on whether to go to Pool 4 or Millelacs this sunday. With all the rain down hear what do you river experts think the river will be like? I drove from New Ulm to Owatonna, rain is understatement .

    Thanks KLH

The river is high and rising. Some large debris is present but not in huge quantities. Fishing in the river is tough but the crank bite on Pepin for 17″ – 24″ fish is OUT OF THIS WORLD!

I was out Thur 6/10 and the water was surprisingly clear of junk and weeds – I was able to troll cranks most of the day on the lake. But if the water rises more, then it could get messy.

    Jim,

As James said in an earlier post, “the crank bite is out of this world”. That was partly correct for me as I did catch about 30 walleyes/sauger, but they were almost all small feisty ones, although once in a great while I did catch a decent fish. I ended up with only 3 fish that were about 17”.
