My wife and I just got back from a wonderful fishing trip. We fished Lake pepin from Friday thru Monday and had one of the best trips in a long time, Thanks to the great people on this web site. Fished from Maiden rock to Camp Lacoupolis and had the most success on the Wisconsin side by Bogus point and the birdhouses. This is the first time in my life that I haven’t bought minnows and used only cranks. The Grapplin shad in chrome with blue was the best with a #5 shad rap deep diver in perch coming in second. All of our fish ( 90% of them 17 – 20″ saugers) were caught in 8 – 10 feet at 1.8 to 2.4 MPH. I know I should have tossed cranks to the flooded shore but really enjoyed the trolling and catching. THANKS to James, Dustin, and all the othere who opened my eyes to a different way to fish.

I will second that. It has improved my fish catching.

I am there with you guys. My wife and I had a great trip the Thursday and Friday before Memorial weekend.

The input that the people at IDA gave to me gave me great confidence before I got to the lake. Once there it only took a short while after a few minor adjustments before I got bit. And what about those mongo sauger!

Thank you again to everyone at IDA and sharing your knowledge.

Airpart, when you were pulling cranks last weekend, were you longlining or using leadcore? How much line were you putting out with the Grappler Shads? Was pulling cranks myself, but alot of garbage floating on top.

I was longlining. Had about 125 feet or so out. I don’t have a line counter on the reels so just counted the same each time. I did notice though that my wife outfished me big time until i started to let out more line. Is she that smart?? I haven’t enjoyed a fishing trip so much in a long time. In fact we are planning on returning in a couple of weeks. Who needs work!!
