Looks like gas prices and the weather took it’s toll on the pleasure boat traffic/river fun this Holiday weekend again.

The last few years it seemed like folk were use to the $3.++ a gallon gas prices and even with so so weather there were plenty of cruisers and fishing boats going past Everts Resort over the weekend.

    No so much this year.

Only one house boat beached across and down stream of Everts and very very few cruisers. Most of the cruisers are just putting along, but there’s always a few that can afford to push the throttle to the max.

Couple other observations are there’s more barge traffic this year so far then in the last five years, but the train traffic seems to be way down.

Think they are playing catch up from the drought last year?

Lots of barges down here too! One of my holes is very sensitive to barge traffic and I havent been able to fish it all year! Every time I try to fish, there are 2-3 barges waiting to go over the spot which completely spooks the fish.

Oh man. I wish I would have known that a head of time. I expected the traffic to be heavy so I stayed home. I think we need a camera on the river to watch the traffic.

Noticed same thing on lower end of p4 also. Sure cold weather played a part too. We kinda liked it. Was planning on making it up that way this morning , but woke up with the crud Fishing was ok with both cranking and dragging jigs putting fish in the boat for us on both days.
