    ry5,

I have not been out in the last couple of days but will tonight and Friday, Sat, Sun. The bite has been extremely tough recently, although this bite will pick up real soon due the warmer temps on the way and waters warming. This will spark the activity and some nice fish as well. Don’t be afraid to do a little night fishing this time of year down here. It can yeild some beauties.

Look for my reports here on FTR throughout the week.

Good Luck if you make it out.

Out March 17, 3 fish from 20-24″-no smaller ones. Fished for 3-4 hours out of Hidden Falls, spent most the time running looking for fish. Couldnt find any numbers. The ones I landed came in 6-8′ of water.

Should be better now through April.

Hidden Falls is open and in very good shape. Lillydale (35E & Highway 13) looks OK too, but I havent launched there.

Still wondering if the bait shop just down from Lillydale is still open??? Last time I called the phone was disconnected. Does anyone know???

    Hey guys,

I can run over and check to see if this baitshop is still in going or not? Where about is it? I can check tommorrow.

Dave, you’re right about the Lilly dale access, looks to be in good shape, although I have not launched here yet. It looked to be in good shape from the water when I went by last night.

Just a little heads up traveling the river down from the Minnesota. The Minnesota has opened and some debris is floating. I was unfortunate and tagged a good size dead head last night at about half throttle. Most of the log was about 6 inches below the surface.

If you exit on 13 and pass by the Lillydale launch it is about 2-3 miles down on the right. The address is 350 Water St W. The name is River Road Bait. You could almost drive right by w/out seeing it. It is one of the 1st businesses on the right when coming from the landing. It is close to a harbor on the river too, but is on the other side of the road.

I stopped by River Road bait yesterday after work. Talked to the guys on the porch , they are open for business. They said they will be open for normal business hours and because someone lives there , it is a 24 hour operation and to knock loud if you want to wake them up.

2 other St. Paul bait shops to keep in mind are Joe’s Sporting Goods, on Dale St by Como Ave. and DB Gimps , which is on Rice St. just north of Maryland Ave. Gimp’s is my favorite for size and quantity.
