An old timer told me a while back that white bass usually start showing up around red wing dam once the walleyes are done spawning.

Does anyone have any report on white bass activity around red wing?

I plan to launch out of Everts this saturday to chase white bass and hopefully a bonus walleye or two.

Last Sunday there were a couple of boats targeting White Bass around the Hay Creek area. Between the 2 boats I saw at least 20 White Bass landed. They were in fairly shallow. I even caught a few White Bass out deeper while targeting Walleyes. Earlier in the day I caught a few up near the dam so to answer you question, yes they are in there.

I would be very surprised if they were not running up there. They have been running down here for 2-3 weeks. Slowing down now though, they are starting to spawn.

Nothing up in the WI corner area by the dam. No need to go there.

Watch for tagged white bass and report the tag number to the MN DNR. They’ve been doing a ton of tagging…someplaces.

White bass are easy picking in August on the lake . Just find the birds feeding , the gulls will tell you where the fish are at . You can throw anything in the school which can be an entire bay and catch them , it’s get for the kids in the boat , but please remember you can kill a good thing with greed . Take only what you plan to eat a freezer full of freezer burnt fish is a waste . Good luck !

Top water plugs look like a hoot. Steve at Everts was using them next to me while I was cat fishing. The backs come right out of the water to nail them in shallower water.

Almost made me want to try it!
