I bought the Daiwa line counter, openned the box and it says the counter is calibrated for 14lb mono. What “fudge factor” do you employ to know how much line you have out if you use thinner line?

I dont know for sure but make sure you fill the spool completely, maybe even slightly over. You may want to use some old line as backing. This will help and you’ll be close. There are many variables that may cause your line counter to be off of what Precison Trolling says your crank should be running. I’d measure out a 100 ft. with a tape measure, run you line out that same distance, then compare it to your what your counter says.

I have 4 of the model 27s and they are all nearly perfect with 30# SPiderwire spooled on. I put on some mono backer about 1/2 way up the spool and then the Spider. I taped 100 yards onto each reel and they were about 1 foot off the indicated line counter with that much line spooled on. One foot in 300 is pretty accurate..and close enough for me. Hope you like yours, those of us that have these sure do.
